TASS.web was unveiled to existing users and prospective schools from South Africa, Hong Kong, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales at a two day national conference held on the 29th and 30th August.

The South Bank (IMAX) cinemas in Brisbane was the venue for the launch, providing the 500 delegates with a perfect view of the latest web based administration and portal software for K – 12 schools.

Highlights of the launch included a live demonstration of the marking of absentees through a browser interface resulting in a sending of SMS notifications to parents’ mobile phone.

A total eCommerce solution featuring electronic parent statements deliverable via email or through the school website with an associated on-line payment system was also unveiled.

Parents at TASS.web schools can now also receive their students’ final academic and progressive assessment reports via email or through the school’s website.

TASS.we
b
is now available in a ‘hosted’ environment. This means that schools can elect to have the application and database ‘hosted’ by a professional application service provider. This can lead to significant savings in administration costs by outsourcing the responsibility for server hardware provision and maintenance. All the school needs to provide is a fast, secure and reliable Internet access.

For those schools that will continue with
their own server infrastructure the
announcement that TASS.
web is now
available on Microsoft SQL Server® was
well received.

Also introduced at the conference was the new look TASS Portal Products. These web based products that are already being used daily by thousands of teachers, students and parents, received extensive new functionality including Behavioral Management, Sports Results, Tours & Excursions, Progressive Assessment and the TASS Business Directory.

A major presentation at the launch was the further integration between eduKate® and TASS.web. Assessment activities from eduKate® can now seamlessly flow through to webBook. This will provide teachers with a seamless solution for managing their learning objects and activities, delivering them to students, having the final results calculate in webBook, and then display neatly on the new TASS Student Academic Report.

An online booking system for TASS schools to register their upgrade request for TASS.web is established on the TASS Website. The first four months of the calendar filled within the first morning, suggesting the launch and the new software was very well received.
